MEDICAL FELLOWSHIPS

Training fellowships are a key aspect of Project Rozana’s mission to promote treatment of diseases in the Palestinian population and build its health capacity. This is through partnerships with Palestinian hospitals.

The medical fellowships fund young Palestinian clinicians from Palestinian hospitals, to train in Israel under highly qualified and experienced Israeli medical specialists. They learn a much needed sub-speciality, and bring their skills and knowledge back to their home hospital.

With recommendation of the Project Rozana Palestinian Medical Advisory Board, Project Rozana arranges the sub-speciality medical fellowships. The cost is $30,000 – $50,000 per annum, per fellowship.

Previous fellows, Dr Mohammed Majed Rabee Skafi from Hebron and Dr Majed Dabur from Ramallah have completed their two-year residencies in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Hadassah Hospital, Jerusalem, and in Anaesthesiology at Sheba Hospital in Tel Aviv, respectively.

The 2019 Fellowship has been awarded to Dr Khadra Salami, senior paediatrician in haematological-oncology at Augusta Victoria Hospital, East Jerusalem.

Dr Salami (pictured below with a young patient) begins her two-year paediatric bone marrow transplantation specialisation training at Hadassah Hospital, Jerusalem.

She will take her expertise back to the children’s cancer ward at Augusta Victoria.
